In "Around the World in 80 Trees," Jonathan Drori uses plant science
to illuminate how trees play a role in every part of human life, from
the romantic to the regrettable, to the downright ridiculous. Stops on
the trip include the lime trees of Berlin's Unter den Linden
boulevard, which intoxicate amorous Germans and hungry bees alike and
the Japanese Lacquer tree, whose sap has been used not only for some
of the world's most beautiful man-made objects but also by a sect of
monks to mummify themselves while still alive. Jonathan Drori will
share some of these strange and true tales taking us on a stunning
journey through this arboretum of surprising tales.
