In this lecture, Tony Lewis, a Chicago-based artist, and Matt
Saunders, an artist and the Harris K. Weston Associate Professor of
the Humanities at Harvard, will discuss various practices and
techniques of drawing. Considering their own work, Lewis and Saunders
will explore some of the unique questions that the fugitive medium of
drawing poses to contemporary audiences. The lecture will take place
in Menschel Hall, Lower Level. Please enter the museums via the
entrance on Broadway. Doors will open at 5:30pm. Free admission, but
seating is limited. Tickets will be distributed beginning at 5:30pm at
the Broadway entrance. One ticket per person. Complimentary parking
available in the Broadway Garage, 7 Felton Street, Cambridge. This
program is generously supported by the Getty Foundation's initiative
The Paper Project: Prints and Drawings Curatorship in the 21st
Century. In tandem with this program, the Harvard Art Museums are
hosting the private workshop "The Potential of Technical Studies and
Conservation for Prints and Drawings Curatorship, A Professional
Workshop," which invites early-career curators from around the world
to question and contextualize prints and drawings on a technical level
to strengthen their curatorial practice.
