Event Description:
While media attention about Zika has all but disappeared, there are
still new cases being identified in Brazil, as well as other countries
in the region such as Cuba and Venezuela. However, governments and
other health authorities are doing little to stem the spread of the
virus, particularly sexual transmission which can be prevented by
sexuality education and other sexual and reproductive health services
such as contraception. As a result, women continue to bear the brunt
of the epidemic; particularly poor, young, women of color who have
little access to health care and live in areas with high mosquito
populations.
